Aikido, the Way of Harmony, was founded by Morihei Ueshiba in early 20th century Japan. Its physical form comes from traditional styles of ju-jitsu as well as weapons arts. However its ultimate goal is not the destruction of an opponent but rather personal development and the peaceful resolution of conflict. The Avalon Aikikai (formerly the MUN Aikido Club) has been teaching Aikido for over 40 years and is a long-standing member of the Canadian Aikido Federation. We welcome all who are interested in Aikido to come and train with us.
